Road tells the story of a cross-border serial murder case that shocks both Korea and Japan. In Tokyo, investigators discover a body with its limbs gruesomely twisted and Korean words scrawled in blood nearby.

Not long after, Korea reports a similar crime scene, this time with Japanese writing next to another twisted corpse. With both nations unsettled, detectives from each country are forced to team up in hopes of catching the killer behind the terrifying crimes.

The series will be directed by Han Jun Hee, who previously created Netflix’s D.P. and films like Coin Locker Girl. He has partnered with screenwriter Jo Yoo Jin of Pilot to adapt the webtoon Blue Road, which has been praised for its dark themes and gripping tension.

Director Han Jun Hee explained, “It is a cross-national crime drama that intensely follows the journey of two detectives doing everything they can to catch the culprit.” While inspired by the original, the series will expand the narrative in new directions.

Son Suk Ku, who recently appeared in A Killer Paradox, Nine Puzzles, and Heavenly Ever After, plays the determined Korean detective. Opposite him, Japanese actor Nagayama Eita, known for Living, Rikokatsu, and Even If You Don’t Do It, steps into the role of the Japanese detective, Inose.

Kim Shin Rok (Hellbound, Sweet Home, Moving) plays a Zainichi Korean businessman tied to the investigation. Choi Sung Eun (Beyond Evil, The Sound of Magic) portrays a government agent who approaches the case from a different angle. Veteran actor Jung Jae Young (Assembly, Partners for Justice) will take on the role of a mysterious man whose presence intensifies the drama.

Meanwhile, Road is expected to air next year; however, Netflix has yet to confirm broadcast details.
