Song Hye Kyo, the South Korean actress, made a meaningful donation to support the production of a video in commemoration of the 105th anniversary of Independence Movement Day.
On March 1, Professor Seo Kyung Duk, from Sungshin Women’s University, shared on his personal social media account that they created a multilingual video to honor March 1st. The video introduces Dr. Yun Hui-sun, who was Korea’s first female righteous army chief.
The video has a duration of approximately 4 minutes and 17 seconds. It takes a closer look at the life of Dr. Yun, the first female righteous army general. The video highlights her remarkable actions, such as warning the Japanese with a brush, organizing a volunteer army, and fearlessly entering the battlefield. Continuing the tradition of last year, this year, a video showcasing female independence activists was created.
Professor Seo spearheaded the project, and it received sponsorship from Song Hye Kyo. The video was thoughtfully produced in both Korean and English to reach a wider audience.
Dr. Yun dedicated more than 40 years of her life to the anti-Japanese movement. During that time, she wrote eight medical notes and four warnings to raise awareness. She also played a crucial role in organizing the Ansaram Volunteer Army and went into exile in Western Jiandao. Additionally, Dr. Yun established a school, leaving a lasting impact on the community.
Throughout the past 13 years, Song Hye Kyo and Professor Seo have been actively sharing the history of the Korean independence movement. Their efforts have included donating Korean guides, and Korean signboards, and providing relief works to 35 overseas historical sites.
