Song Joong Ki honored his late friend Lee Sun Gyun during a special event for the movie Land of Happiness.
The special event for the movie Land of Happiness was held at CGV Wangsimni in Seoul on August 22, attended by Yoo Jae Myung, Song Joong Ki, and film journalist Lee Hwa Jung.
At the event, the Vincenzo actor shared his thoughts, saying, “Even though I am not in the movie, it feels like my movie. I am honored to be able to introduce a movie I love. I regret not doing even a cameo because all the hyungs I’m so close to and love are in it.”
Remembering his late friend, Song Joong Ki further added, “Since it is the last movie of my beloved Sun Gyun, I am going through the process of sending him off in my own way. I think it is my own mourning process. It has personal meaning for me, so I wanted to participate as well.”
Notably, Land of Happiness is the last film featuring the late Lee Sun Gyun. The movie dramatizes the true story of Park Tae-joo (Lee Sun Gyun), who was accused of involvement in the 1979 presidential assassination, and his lawyer Jeong In-hu (Jo Jung Suk), who bravely takes on his defense amidst the most intense political trial in South Korea’s history. The film Land of Happiness is now showing in cinemas.
