Won Ji An is switching from an intense character of “Squid Game 2” to a lighter, lovelier role. Fresh from her breakout success in “Squid Game 2”, the 25-year-old rising star is set to star in a new romantic comedy-drama. That’s not all, she’s got a dreamy co-star to boot: Park Seo Joon.
According to an exclusive report by Sports Donga on January 3, Won Ji An is approached for the female lead role in “Waiting for Gyeongdo”. As per the media outlet, she is positively considering starring in the show.
“Waiting for Gyeongdo” is a romantic comedy about first love and second chances. The story follows Lee Kyung Do and Seo Ji Woo, who fell in love in their twenties, and then reconnect years later in an unexpected way.
It’s the latest project from writer Yoo Young Ah, who’s also behind “Encounter”, “Thirty-Nine”, and “Divorce Attorney Shin”. Director Lim Hyun Wook, known for “King the Land”, is directing the highly appreciated drama.
Park Seo Joon is reportedly set to star as Lee Kyung Do in the upcoming romantic comedy “Waiting for Gyeongdo”. If all goes as planned, this will mark his return to television (not counting OTT projects) five years after his hit drama “Itaewon Class”.
With Won Ji An considered for the female lead, all eyes are on the potential chemistry between these two talented actors.
Won Ji-an entered the entertainment industry with Netflix’s “D.P.”, and has been on a roll ever since. She has proven her acting chops in “If You Wish Upon Me”, “Hope or Dope”, and “Squid Game 2“. She will appear next in Disney+’s “Made in Korea.”
Production for “Waiting for Gyeongdo” is set to kick off once casting is finalized, with the broadcast schedule to be announced at a later date.
