Tang Wei was at the center of a social media firestorm in China after false rumors of her death spread like wildfire online.
To set the record straight, the 44-year-old Chinese actress is alive and well, contrary to false death rumors that recently circulated online.
On July 25, false reports of her death spread rapidly across Chinese websites, triggering a surge in search queries like ‘Tang Wei death rumors’ and ‘Tang Wei passed away’, making it a trending topic in China.
It is not new that fake news has been posted by these websites to get attention. Last year, they broke the news that the Wonderland actress has retired without confirmation, and now the death rumors.
Besides, many Chinese websites have reported divorce rumors multiple times over the years, however, none of the rumors were true.
Some netizens questioned whether the false death rumors were a publicity stunt to promote Wonderland. However, Tang Wei appears to be enjoying a fulfilling life.
She has been married to director Kim Tae Yong since 2014 and they have a daughter together. In fact, they celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary on July 12.
On the work front, she last appeared in the movie, Wonderland, released on June 5.
