A heated controversy emerged after Nana publicly criticized THE BOYZ’s Sunwoo over what she perceived as a poor attitude. The controversy started when Nana commented on a video that seemed to show THE BOYZ not bowing to the staff, a common courtesy in Korea.
The former After School K-pop idol commented on a video, saying, “Someone needs to be scolded”. Netizens also called out the Sunwoo for his seemingly rude behavior.
However, his fans defended him, criticizing Nana for focusing on a minor issue and causing misunderstandings. They argued that she should have addressed more serious concerns, like the Kim Soo Hyun controversy, instead of highlighting a seemingly minor oversight.
Sunwoo explained the controversy on the fan messaging app, Bubble, saying,
“It’s not that I’m saying “AirPods AirPods” all the time. I saw the video and it just looked like I was being rude and not greeting anyone. A fan yelled something, but I didn’t know what fell, so I was confused. Then I realized it was AirPods, and I said “My AirPods!!” and looked for them with my eyes, but I couldn’t find them. I picked them up when they were handed to me and said “Thank you!” without bowing my head…!
I understand that it could easily look that way.
I always say “Thank you!” when someone holds the door open for me from behind, and I always greet people well… ^^ Don’t worry.
