With the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards just around the corner, K-pop fans have plenty to look forward to. Among the many big names set to perform, two major K-pop groups are making history: Tomorrow X Together (TXT) and Stray Kids. The ceremony will air live on September 12 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
It was recently announced that TXT, Lil Wayn, Doja Cat, Anitta, and Kelsea Ballerini will be joining the star-studded lineup of 2023 VMAs performers. Previously, the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards revealed a lineup featuring Stray Kids, Karol G, Demi Lovato, and Måneskin.
TXT was recently confirmed for the lineup alongside Lil Wayne, Doja Cat, Anitta, and Kelsea Ballerini. They’ll be performing a brand-new single from their upcoming album The Name Chapter: FREEFALL — a track that fans haven’t heard yet. The group is also nominated for Push Performance of the Year and Best K-pop.
A bigger surprise is that they will share the VMA stage with Brazilian singer Anitta for a special collaboration performance of “Back For More.” For TXT, the timing could not be better. Their new album The Name Chapter: FREEFALL is scheduled for release on October 18.
Debuting a new single live at the VMAs gives them rare global exposure ahead of the album drop. It is surely going to be a happening couple of months for TXT with the VMAs performance and the upcoming album release.
Stray Kids were also announced as performers for the 2023 VMAs and joined the select list of K-pop groups—such as BLACKPINK and BTS—to grace the VMA stage. Their single “S-Class” is nominated for Best K-pop.
Whether you are a STAY or a MOA, keep an eye on September 12.
