BLACKPINK’s Rosé is making waves after the surprise release of a collaboration song with Bruno Mars “APT.”

The song, which has surpassed 20 million YouTube views within 18 hours of release, is receiving a lot of love from fans in Korea and abroad.

On October 18 (local time), Rosé sat down with Maxwell and Crystal Rosas on Z100 New York to talk about all the exciting things that BLINKs and number ones (her solo fandom) want to know about.

Rosé on Collaboration with Bruno Mars

Starting with an unexpectedly delightful collaboration with Bruno Mars, the 27-year-old K-pop idol shared the journey behind her collaboration with American singer-songwriter and labelmate, Bruno Mars.

She shared, “I found out I was a huge fan of him (Bruno) when he came to Seoul to perform last year, a year ago. My friend was like, ‘Let’s go watch it’ I went out, and I couldn’t process how good he was.”

Rosé, who is signed under Atlantic Records, asked the label for a collaboration with Bruno Mars, not thinking it would actually happen. She expressed, “I say it, like, thinking, 99% sure that’s not going to ever ever happen but I am just like ‘Whatever, we’ll see.’

Rosé presented Bruno Mars with three potential song options. During their meeting, the 39-year-old singer expressed interest in one titled “APT.” Rosé explained that “APT” refers to a popular Korean drinking game.

Rosé on BLACKPINK Members Feedback

The “On The Ground” singer was asked about BLACKPINK members’ feedback and who had the first listen. She shared that they have been so busy and they do not meet each other as often. Rosé mentioned meeting Jennie and Lisa and praised Jisoo for “always tuning in.”

She shared, “She (Jisoo) always, like, how are you doing, like where are you in the world, come back to Korea, I miss you, the best.”

Rosé on Upcoming Album “rosie”

Rosé also talked about her upcoming album “rosie”, saying, “I am super proud of myself, I am like thank you rosie for actually pushing through all of that, it was a lot, just like confused times, I felt lost for like a minute, it was only because I, uh, think I had an exact purpose I wanted this album so badly in the shape and form it is right now.”

She added, “So there were lots of trials and tribulations but I am really proud of myself.”

When asked about her plans on performing on stage, she said, “‘cause I haven’t had 12 songs in my life before I have only had two.”

Rosé said he had an acoustic session a few weeks earlier to prepare for it and it got her excited to perform on the stage.
