Stray Kids became the second K-pop group after BTS to perform at the prestigious 2024 American Music Awards (AMAs).
Stray Kids took the stage at the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special in Los Angeles on October 6 (local time).
Clad in sleek black attire, the group began their set with a nod to NSYNC’s iconic hit “Bye Bye Bye.”
The striking opening featured Stray Kids members with their hands and feet symbolically bound by ropes, paying homage to the classic 90s boy band.
NSYNC’s song “Bye Bye Bye” regained popularity after being featured in the opening scene of Ryan Reynolds’ “Deadpool and Wolverine.”
During the AMAs red carpet interview, when Stray Kids members were asked about which boy band paved the way, they mentioned NSYNC.
Felix shared, “Just performing on the AMAs for the first time and doing a collaboration with NSYNC was very memorable.”
It is safe to say that Stray Kids electrified the American Music Awards stage, blending K-pop flair with American boy band nostalgia. They delivered a high-energy performance of “Cheek Chick Boom” followed by a remix of NSYNC’s iconic “Bye Bye Bye”.
With this, they paid homage to the legendary group, comprising Justin Timberlake, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, and JC Chasez, who rose to global fame after debuting in 1997.
By incorporating NSYNC’s classic hit into their set, Stray Kids honored the group’s enduring legacy and added significance to the American Music Awards’ 50th-anniversary celebration.
Stray Kids is swiftly gaining recognition on international music platforms, having already performed at overseas music festivals this year alone. In 2024 so far, they performed at I-Days, BST Hyde London, Lollapalooza Chicago, and Gala Des Pièces Jaunes in Paris.
