Mino is currently under police investigation for neglecting his duties as a social service worker. According to authorities, the WINNER member admitted to leaving his workplace during working hours.
Mino has largely admitted to allegations of poor performance during his alternative military service as a social service worker, according to police investigation results.
The 32-year-old K-pop star appeared at the police station three times for questioning and admitted to skipping work.
The police stated, ‘We will determine whether the allegations are valid based on the evidence obtained through seizure and communication investigations.’ They also revealed, ‘Song Minho largely admitted to leaving during work hours.’
Mino began his alternative military service as a social service worker at two Seoul-based facilities, Mapo Facility Management Corporation and Mapo Community Convenience Facility, in March 2023.
However, allegations have surfaced that he failed to fulfill his duties properly prior to his scheduled discharge. Specifically, it is claimed that he frequently skipped work and, on days when he did attend, would briefly play games or rest before leaving.
According to coworkers, Mino alleged that he frequently arrived late to work, saying that it was because of his medication regimen. They claimed that he received special treatment due to his celebrity status. He never performed his core responsibilities such as handling phone complaints. Furthermore, they claimed he disregarded the dress code for social service workers, choosing not to wear the uniform due to weight gain and opting to keep his hair long.
Mini risks facing serious consequences if found guilty of unauthorized absence from work. Potential penalties include a maximum 3-year prison term, plus an additional service period equivalent to five times the number of days he was absent.
The Military Manpower Administration is taking steps to enhance the service management system for social service workers. To achieve this, they will introduce an electronic attendance confirmation procedure to ensure accurate tracking of work hours. Additionally, the administration plans to strengthen service management by expanding the types of disciplinary actions for those who violate service regulations.
