Mino from WINNER has found himself at the center of a brewing controversy.
The 31-year-old K-pop idol was accused of not showing up to work since October 30 and receiving special treatment from his supervisor.
An internal investigation has been launched into allegations that Mino neglected his duties while serving as a social service worker during his mandatory military service.
On December 19, Mapo Police Station in Seoul initiated an internal investigation into allegations that the WINNER member falsified his attendance records. This development came after the police received a petition from the National Petition on December 18 requesting a probe into his suspected misconduct.
Previously, Dispatch reported that Mino, serving as a social service worker since March 2023, has been irregularly attending work. As per the report, he was not spotted at work since his 6-day trip to Hawaii in October.
Dispatch revealed that his superior handled his handwritten attendance record and it was signed in bulk by Mino. When approached, the said superior did not provide any objective evidence and attributed his absence to annual leave, sick leave, and hospitalization.
YG Entertainment responded to the allegations, stating they cannot confirm specific details about his service. However, they clarified that his sick leave was for ongoing treatment he had been receiving prior to his service, and all other vacation days were taken in accordance with regulations.
Mino enlisted in the army training center in March last year and has been serving as a public service worker, with scheduled discharge on December 23.
On another note, he has been caught up in dating rumors with actress Park Ju Hyun, but YG Entertainment has declined to comment on the situation.
Meanwhile, WINNER leader Kang Seung Yoon was discharged from the military today. Once Mino completes his alternative military service, they will resume group activities next year.
