On the night of June 11, 2025, just hours after BTS member Jungkook was officially discharged from his 18-month military service, a troubling incident unfolded at his private residence in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Police arrested a Chinese woman in her 30s for attempting to break into the idol’s luxury home.
According to the Yongsan Police Station, the incident occurred around 11:20 PM when the suspect repeatedly pressed the front door passcode of Jungkook’s newly built five-story mansion. It is an upscale property in one of Seoul’s most secure neighborhoods, favored by celebrities for its privacy.
Authorities were alerted by concerned neighbors and swiftly detained the woman at the scene. During questioning, she reportedly stated she had traveled to Korea specifically to see Jungkook following his military discharge.
The timing of the event put a damper on what should have been a happy day for the BTS star. The “Standing Next To You” singer had just finished his service in the 5th Infantry Division that morning and even held a livestream to greet fans. He thanked his fellow soldiers and joked about his “makeup-free” look after being away from the public eye for months.
Previously, Jungkook expressed frustration when sasaengs waited for him in front of his house, and told them to “stop coming, you punks” during a live broadcast on Weverse. He warned sasaengs against sending food deliveries to his home, stating he wouldn’t eat them and would take action if they continued. He even asked them to use the money for themselves instead.
This is not the first time BTS members have faced security breaches. In 2023, a stalker was arrested for following member V (Kim Taehyung) into his apartment building and presenting him with a fabricated marriage certificate.
Even though HYBE and BIGHIT MUSIC, BTS’s agency, has a firm no-tolerance policy against such actions, sasaengs still find ways to get around it.
Meanwhile, Jungkook and Jimin completed their military service, having enlisted in December 2023, and were discharged on June 11. At the discharge ceremony, he joked about feeling awkward without makeup after being away from the spotlight. He expressed gratitude to his fellow soldiers, “Dear soldiers who we’ve been together with, those who have already discharged everyone who stayed with us, thank you so much for taking care of us and being so kind to us.”
