A woman in her 30s has been referred to the prosecution for sending 19 threatening messages to Han Ji Min.
On March 28, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul referred a woman, Ms. A, in her 30s to the prosecution on charges of threatening and insulting, with the option to face trial without being detained.
According to authorities, Ms. A posted 19 derogatory messages about Han Ji Min on her personal social media account. She made the defamatory posts over two months, from September to October last year.
A posted messages such as “I will sabotage Han Ji Min’s movie” and “Shut your mouth,” and even tagged the “Love Scout” actress and her colleagues in the posts.
Her agency, BH Entertainment, filed a complaint in October of last year, stating they had confirmed malicious slander, personal attacks, and the spread of false information about the actress. The agency vowed to take strict legal action and would not settle or show leniency.
Following the complaint on October 25, the police worked with international authorities to identify the suspect.
On the work front, Han Ji Min received praise for her role in the romance drama “Love Scout” opposite Lee Jun Hyuk. Han played a high-powered CEO who is clueless outside the office. She heavily relies on her capable and kind secretary, Lee Jun Hyuk, a devoted single father. The drama recorded a peak viewership rating of 12%. She will now star in the new drama “Heavenly Ever After”, scheduled to release on April 19.
