YG Entertainment is gearing up to launch a brand-new boy group, set to debut by the end of 2025.
The label is the driving force behind K-pop giants like BIGBANG, 2NE1, BLACKPINK, WINNER, TREASURE, AKMU, and BABYMONSTER. Although it oversees numerous groups, it heavily depends on BLACKPINK for financial success.
Since BLACKPINK paused their activities in September 2023, YG Entertainment has felt the impact and reported significant losses. With BIGBANG, 2NE1, and WINNER also inactive, the label turned to TREASURE, BABYMONSTER, and other artists.
However, being newcomers and relatively unknown in the international scene, these groups were unable to generate substantial profits.
YG Entertainment is making up for its past mistakes and introducing “more than one group” this year, as promised by executive director Yang Hyun Suk.
On February 7, the brokerage firm Daishin Securities revealed that YG Entertainment is gearing up to debut a new boy group by year-end. It is expected to promptly address YG Entertainment’s previously limited artist lineup, a factor that had negatively impacted the company’s valuation in 2024.
The stock price and profits for 2025 will increase significantly with high-profile activities from the label’s artists. BABYMONSTER’s world tour, TREASURE fan-con tour, BLACKPINK’s tour and comeback as well as WINNER’s comeback will contribute greatly to this year’s profit.
Previously, the label received high praise for the talented lineup of BABYMONSTER. Despite being young artists and around 1 year into their debut, the members have impressed critics with their stable vocals and performance skills.
It is expected that the new boy group will also impress fans and critics with their vocal talents. Announcements about the members and the exact debut date are expected to be revealed in the coming months.
Additionally, YG Entertainment is restructuring and will discontinue its acting division to focus exclusively on music. They have introduced a new innovative system to recruit and train young talent.
Fans of YG artists should brace themselves for a packed year with increased activities from their artists.
