ZEROBASEONE (ZB1) and their label WAKEONE have agreed to continue activities for an additional two months. As a result, their originally scheduled disbandment in January is moved to March 2026. After months of speculation, fans finally received the confirmation they were hoping for — a little more time with the “Boys Planet” project group.
Talks about an extension have been ongoing for most of 2025. In February, during promotions for their Blue Paradise EP, leader Sung Hanbin casually mentioned that discussions about a contract renewal were underway.
It was the first time fans received direct confirmation that both WakeOns and members’ agencies were seriously considering extending ZB1’s activities.
Months later, in August, rumors claimed that the group had already reached a “dramatic agreement” behind the scenes. WAKEONE quickly stepped in to cool expectations, saying that although discussions had been happening since early in the year, “nothing has been decided yet.”
For a while, the group’s future remained unclear.
Then, on December 1, 2025, their official wiki page updated with a decisive note confirming that “WAKEONE confirmed that all members of the group have agreed to extend their exclusive contracts for an additional two months.”
A few hours later, WAKEONE released a notice to fans and shared more context behind the decision. One of the longer key lines read, “After sincere in-depth discussions with all 9 members of ZEROBASEONE… the company and the members have mutually agreed to extend ZEROBASEONE’s group activities for an additional 2 months.”
The statement also highlighted that the choice was unanimous: “This decision was reached unanimously by all ZEROBASEONE members, who hold deep affection for the team and wish to repay the great love they have received from the fans.”
WAKEONE reassured ZEROSE that the group would continue promoting as a full team. They confirmed that fans would be able to see them again at the 2025 ZEROBASEONE WORLD TOUR ‘HERE & NOW’ encore show.
The notice also mentioned that the 3rd Global Official ZEROSE membership will automatically extend, saying, “The 3rd Global Official Fanclub ‘ZEROSE’ will be automatically extended without any additional payment, and Plus Chat services will also continue without change.”
ZEROBASEONE is a nine-member multinational boy group comprising Sung Hanbin, Seok Matthew, Kim Jiwoong, Zhang Hao, Ricky, Kim Taerae, Kim Gyuvin, Park Gunwook, and Han Yujin. Their group name represents moving from “zero” to “one,” which symbolizes a fresh start and shared growth with their fans, ZEROSE. The group debuted on July 10, 2023, with a contract planned to last 2.5 years, set to expire in January 2026.
Despite being a temporary group, ZB1 quickly became one of the most successful project groups in K-pop. They swept every major Rookie of the Year award in 2023–2024, and even earned the “Rookie Grand Slam.”
Their debut mini-album, Youth in the Shade, surpassed two million sales, breaking the record for the highest-selling debut album in K-pop history. They also set records in Japan by achieving the highest first-week sales for a debut single by a foreign artist.
2025 has been packed with achievements.
On September 1, ZEROBASEONE released their first full-length album, Never Say Never. Shortly after, they began their first world tour, Here & Now, with concerts running from October through December in Seoul, Bangkok, Saitama, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Taipei, and Hong Kong.
The newly confirmed extension gives the members and label more time to discuss their future and take the right decision.
