K-pop fans were in for a treat as Zico celebrated a major milestone in his career: 10 years as a soloist.
The rapper and producer celebrated the occasion with a special concert, featuring guest appearances by BLACKPINK’s Jennie and EXO’s D.O.
He held solo concerts “ZICO LIVE: JOIN THE PARADE,” commemorating his 10-year solo debut anniversary, on November 23-24.
Zico made a long-awaited return to the solo concert stage, six years after his last show. Fittingly, the performance coincided with a major milestone: the 10th anniversary of his solo debut.
The 32-year-old Hip-Hop artist performed many hit songs including “New Thing”, “Seoul Drift,” “SPOT!” with Jennie, “Say Yes or No,” and four songs with D.O.
The surprise appearances of special guests added an extra layer of excitement to the performance. One of the biggest surprises came when Jennie joined Zico on stage for a rendition of their song “SPOT!.”
During a chat with the audience after the song, Zico revealed that he’d been caught off guard by Jennie’s appearance. “I was genuinely surprised earlier,” he confessed with a laugh. “I mean, Jennie actually showed up!” He joked that he had been so taken aback that he wondered if his friends from Block B or BOYNEXTDOOR were going to suddenly appear on stage.
He also referenced the MAMA awards ceremony that had taken place the night before, telling the crowd, “I performed a stage today that I didn’t even get to do at MAMA – and I’m doing it for the first time at a solo concert!”
The surprises kept coming as Zico’s close friend D.O. (Do Kyung Soo) made a special appearance on stage. The EXO member treated the audience to a mini-concert of his own, performing a string of four songs: “Mars,” “I Do I Do,” “It’s Okay,” and “Popcorn.”
D.O. also couldn’t resist poking fun at his friend, joking that he had seemed “really cool” on stage.
Wrapping up the performance, Zico reflected on the challenges of returning to the concert stage after six years. He also expressed his desire to perform more frequently, joking that it would be a waste to let the elaborate set go unused.
