JYP Entertainment announced that KG, a former member of the global girl group VCHA (now GIRLSET), has officially ended her contract with the company as of August 8.

The agency confirmed,

JYP America and KG have mutually agreed to part ways as she concludes her journey with VCHA. Both parties sincerely wish each other all the best in their future endeavors. Thank you.

KG’s departure caps a long-running dispute. In December 2024, she filed a lawsuit against JYP USA in Los Angeles Superior Court, accusing the company of child labor exploitation, child neglect, abuse, and unfair business practices.

According to court filings and interviews, the 18-year-old singer and her fellow trainees endured grueling working conditions, insufficient mental health support, and financial burdens, including reported debt tied to housing and living expenses.

She also alleged constant surveillance in the Los Angeles home where the group lived, hidden cameras that monitored daily conversations, and pressure to conform to extreme body standards. Tragically, KG also claimed that another member attempted suicide, an incident she said was deliberately concealed by company staff. JYP USA strongly denied the allegations, calling them “false and exaggerated.”

Last month, news outlets later reported that the lawsuit reached a settlement after a mediation session at the California Superior Court. KG agreed to withdraw her suit, and both parties concluded their legal relationship amicably.

VCHA was a joint recruitment effort by JYP Entertainment and Republic Records designed to create a North America–based girl group using the K-pop system. The group debuted in January 2024 with six members, Lexi, Camila, Kendall, Savanna, KG, and Kaylee, and even toured with TWICE in early 2024. After KG’s lawsuit and departure, Kaylee also left the group in July 2025 by mutual agreement with JYP.

With two members gone, JYP opted to rebrand the group. On August 7, the company unveiled the new name GIRLSET. This signaled a fresh start for the remaining four members: Lexi, Camila, Kendall, and Savanna. A cinematic teaser and logo rollout teased this new identity, with JYP describing GIRLSET as a group ready to define its own path.

Meanwhile, the rebranded girl group GIRLSET will release their single, Commas, on August 29. On the other hand, KG will likely pursue her career as a solo artist.
