Actress Park Gyu Young has always been open about her admiration for SEVENTEEN, and she recently revealed just how much of a fan she really is. In an interview for her upcoming Netflix movie Mantis on September 30, Park shared her thoughts on meeting her “favorite group” in person.
She recalled her appearance on the YouTube program SELF-ON KODE, where she sat across from S.Coups for the very first time. The show is designed to bring out candid and personal sides of its guests, with participants revealing things like their phone home screens, YouTube history, and music playlists. S.Coups was the fifth SEVENTEEN member to appear on the show after Wonwoo, Vernon, Woozi, and Hoshi.
Park Gyu Young explained that she has followed SEVENTEEN closely for a long time, watching everything from their YouTube content to variety show appearances.
Her knowledge of the group especially shone through when she appeared on SELF-ON KODE alongside S.Coups. “I’ve watched everything from SEVENTEEN’s YouTube, self-produced content, to variety shows—there’s nothing I haven’t seen,” she said.
During the episode, Park Gyu Young cleverly guessed S.Coups’ identity. “That’s why I already knew from X (formerly Twitter) that S.Coups-nim is the leader and that he’s quick at monitoring things, so I kind of sensed it instinctively during SELF-ON KODE.” she explained. The “Squid Game” actress shared, “But seeing him that close up for the first time really surprised me.”
When asked about her favorite member, Park admitted with some hesitation that her second bias is SEVENTEEN’s Seungkwan.
She described how much she enjoys his presence in variety content, “Honestly, I consider SEVENTEEN as my ultimate bias group because they perform so incredibly well on stage, and I really love that about them. As for Seungkwan, he shines so much in content, so he’s my second bias. That’s why I was really happy to meet him again through YouTube and also promote Mantis. It was such a great experience,” she shared with a smile.
Her appearance with S.Coups on SELF-ON KODE drew plenty of attention online. Fans enjoyed their playful banter and noted how natural their chemistry felt, describing it as “sibling-like.”
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN continues to stay active with new projects. S.Coups has teamed up with fellow member Mingyu for a new unit, CxM, which released their debut mini-album HYPE VIBES on September 29. As for Park Gyu Young, she is preparing for the release of her action film Mantis, in which she plays Jae Yi, the rival of a legendary hitman.
