South Korean broadcasting network KBS has deemed the latest songs from K-pop stars Jennie and Jaehyun unsuitable for broadcast.
KBS has announced the results of its music review, revealing that two songs – Jennie’s “Mantra” and Jaehyun’s “Unconditional” – do not meet broadcast standards.
KBS cited violations of Article 46, prohibiting advertising, due to references to specific brands in the lyrics. Jennie’s “Mantra” name-drops Land Rover’s Defender and In-N-Out Burger.
In response to the restrictions by KBS, OA Entertainment stated they would not revise the lyrics.
Jennie’s empowering anthem “Mantra” tops global charts, inspiring individuals to embrace their unique sparkle.
Meanwhile, Jaehyun’s upcoming R&B pop single “Unconditional” drops on October 24, blending funky bass lines and soulful choir sounds. The song is also banned by KBS for a similar reason, mentioning a specific product from a brand.
“Unconditional” is a special treat from Jaehyun to fans before he enlists in the military on November 4.
Songs deemed unsuitable for broadcasting can undergo re-examination if problematic parts are revised or removed. If re-approved, the song can be cleared for broadcast.
