BIGHIT MUSIC, BTS’ agency, has confirmed that the rapper’s police questioning has been delayed.

In a statement to Sports Kyunghyang, BIGHIT MUSIC has refuted reports by Seoul Shinmun that SUGA would appear at the police station today.

Earlier, Seoul Shinmun had quoted a police official as saying the Haeguem rapper would appear privately at the police station on August 22 to face questioning over his alleged drunk driving incident.

On August 6th, SUGA was booked by a police officer for suspected drunk driving after losing control of his electric scooter in the Hannam-dong area of Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Initial reports indicated that the 31-year-old rapper admitted to consuming a single glass of beer and driving for a short duration.

However, subsequent tests revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.227%, significantly exceeding the legal limit of 0.08% for license revocation.

If convicted, SUGA may face severe penalties, including imprisonment for 2-5 years or a substantial fine ranging from 10-20 million won, as the blood alcohol content exceeded the 0.2% threshold.

SUGA’s drunk driving case is getting a lot of attention worldwide since he is a member of the popular K-pop group BTS.

Following drunk driving, a complaint was also filed to the Military Manpower Administration for neglect of military service. It is expected to have no impact on his military service since the incident happened outside of working hours.

SUGA enlisted in the military in September 2023 and is currently serving as a social service agent.
