Sunghoon of ENHYPEN may appear at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. A HYBE source told Korea Herald on September 22, discussions are underway for his participation at the event, scheduled to be held in late February at Verona Arena. However, details of his role and schedule remain unconfirmed.
The Korea Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC), which operates Korea House during the Olympics, also confirmed talks with Hybe about Sunghoon’s possible visit. Korea House serves as a promotional space for Korean sports and culture during the Games.
“We are also in talks with Hybe regarding Sunghoon’s visit, but the details of the Korea House program have not been finalized yet,” and added, “Specific plans usually come out one or two months ahead, likely by early December or January at the latest,” a KSOC official said.
KSOC made clear that while Sunghoon may visit Korea House, the committee does not organize the Olympic closing ceremony itself.
Before debuting as an idol, the 22-year-old idol was a national figure skating reserve athlete. This background adds significance to his appointment as a KSOC promotional ambassador earlier this year. He received the role in May and Secretary-General Kim Na Mi presented him with a plaque.
At the ceremony, Sunghoon reflected on how figure skating changed his life, saying, “I think the challenging spirit and focus I gained from my experience as a national reserve athlete have become the nutrients that have made me who I am today.”
He also explained how his past in sports connects with his career in K-pop: “Though they’re different fields, I think K-pop and sports share core values—passion, discipline, and perseverance.” Sunghoon vowed to “spread the beauty of sports to more people.”
The KSOC expects his ambassadorship to inspire greater support for athletes and raise interest in the upcoming Games. Ambassadors typically join initiatives such as promoting lesser-known sports, engaging with fans online, and participating in cultural events tied to the Olympics.
Meanwhile, ENHYPEN won multiple awards at the recently held The Fact Music Awards. The group also wrapped the European leg of their world tour ‘Walk the Line’ in Paris on September 3 and will now hold three shows in Singapore on October 3-5.
