On January 5, ENHYPEN’s Jake caused quite a stir during his live stream on January 5, 2023. People weren’t too happy when they spotted him sipping from a Starbucks cup.
During the live stream fans had been trying to give him a heads up about the situation, and he quickly swapped the cup for a glass one. However, even with this change, many fans were still upset, and he eventually decided to refrain from drinking altogether, putting the drink away.
After the live stream, many ENGENEs called him out for buying drinks from a pro-Israeli company. A fan on Weverse requested ENHYPEN to not buy and consume drink from Starbucks again because they are funding genocide in Palestine. The said fans also asked him to apologize and educate himself.
To which, Jake replied saying, ‘Thank you for telling me ENGENE. I made a mistake, I’m very sorry, won’t happen again.’
His reaction to the whole controversy is winning hearts. It’s heartwarming that he owned up to his mistake and offered a sincere apology right away.
