Kai has officially joined the April comeback lineup with the announcement of his latest release “Wait On Me”.
Since his military discharge, the EXO member has been making headlines with hints of his highly anticipated comeback. His return was initially slated for the second quarter of 2025, as revealed in SM Entertainment’s comeback plans. Earlier this month, his agency confirmed an April comeback.
On March 31 at midnight, SM Entertainment dropped the first teaser for his 4th mini-album “Wait On Me”, out next month. A few hours before the announcement, he teased the upcoming album on TikTok and YouTube.
The 31-year-old K-pop star made a comeback right before his military enlistment in May 2023. He released the chart-topping 3rd mini-album “Rover” in March 2023 and began his alternative service 2 months later.
At the time of the release, “Rover” topped the iTunes Album Chart in 40 regions, and the lead single of the same name secured the #12 position on the Billboard World digital song sales.
Since “Wait On Me” will be released after over two years, fans can not wait to hear some brand-new music from Kai.
Since it is unlikely that EXO will make a comeback as a full group this year, EXO-Ls can look forward to the members’ solo endeavors. More recently, Xiumin made his solo comeback after 2.5 years with the mini-album “Interview X” on March 10.
Kai will also embark on his first solo tour “KAION”, starting with two shows in Seoul on May 17-18. Next stops include Kuala Lumpur (May 24), Macau (June 7), Jakarta (June 14), Singapore (June 21).
He debuted as an EXO member in 2012 and made his solo debut after 8 years with a self-titled EP in November 2020. He made his first comeback with 2nd mini-album “Peaches” in North 2021 followed by the release of 3rd EP “Rover’ in March 2023.
Meanwhile, Kai will release his 4th mini-album “Wait On Me” globally on April 21 at 6 PM KST.
