After years of speculation, G-Dragon (Kwon Ji Yong) has officially denied the long-standing dating rumors with former After School member Lee Joo Yeon. This marks the fifth time such claims have surfaced since 2017.
This is the second time the K-pop icon is embroiled in dating rumors this week. More recently, he was rumored to be dating Sana from TWICE, which his agency swiftly denied.
On June 6, 2025, Galaxy Corporation, his agency, provided a statement to clear up the rumors, which were recently reignited by social media hints.
Origins of G-Dragon and Lee Joo Yeon Dating Rumors
The latest round of gossip began in late April 2025, when Lee Joo Yeon posted an Instagram selfie with a gray cat. Netizens noted that the background interior (sofa, wall frames, and mirror) matched G-Dragon’s home decor, previously seen in his own posts. The cat’s pink furry scarf resembled one worn by the BIGBANG leader’s pet, Iye.
This led to theories that the photo was taken at G-Dragon’s apartment, and many called it a “home date”.
History of Dating Rumors
Lee Joo Yeon and G-Dragon first faced dating rumors in 2017, which both sides dismissed as a “close colleague” relationship. Although their relationship was addressed, the rumors did not entirely disappear. There were sightings, such as the 2018 trip to Jeju Island, and a video of them together on Instagram in 2019, which was later taken down. G-Dragon and Lee Joo Yeon never said anything about these later claims.

While YG Entertainment avoided commenting on his personal life, G-Dragon’s current agency firmly denied the rumors:
We would like to clarify that the recent dating rumors surrounding G-Dragon and Lee Joo Yeon, which have been continuously brought up, are not true.
G-Dragon’s Dating Rumors
The “POWER” rapper has been linked to multiple stars, including Kiko Mizuhara (2010), BLACKPINK’s Jennie (2018–2021), and TWICE’s Sana (April 2025).
While some were denied (e.g., Taeyeon, Sandara Park), others like Mizuhara and Jennie were never confirmed or refuted.
Amid the rumors, his recent comments about marriage plans in a candid conversation with comedian Park Myung Soo have gone viral, though he did not reference Lee Joo Yeon directly.
When asked about marriage plans, he shared
It’s not like I haven’t thought about it… Of course, I’ve thought about marriage. But I’m not in a rush or anything. I’m just trying to be ready in advance. I’ve never sung at a wedding before. I’d love to sing for myself.
Meanwhile, G-Dragon will hold three shows in Macau on June 6-8 as part of his world tour, Übermensch.
