Australian musician Kevin Parker—the mastermind behind Tame Impala—has announced a surprise collaboration with BLACKPINK’s Jennie. The duo will release a remix of Tame Impala’s hit single “Dracula” this Friday, February 6.
The announcement came via a brief, cryptic clip shared on Parker’s social media on the morning of February 4, captioned simply: “Surprise… Friday.” The teaser confirms what fans had been guessing for weeks after spotting small hints about the collaboration.
Hints about the collaboration had been quietly appearing online. Fans first noticed a subtle change in the description of the original “Dracula” music video on YouTube. A lyric that originally read, “My friends are saying ‘shut up Kevin just get in the car,’” had been edited to replace “Kevin” with “Jennie.”
Rumors grew further when Tame Impala was seen wearing official Jennie merchandise in public. Around the same time, her label, Odd Atelier, shared a mysterious pre-save link, which the BLACKPINK member later reposted the link on her own social media.
“Dracula” was first released in September last year as part of Tame Impala’s fifth studio album, Deadbeat. The song blends disco and electropop and became one of Parker’s biggest commercial successes. He also earned his first-ever entry on the Billboard Hot 100, and the song later placed third on triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2025.
Lyrically, the song explores themes of escapism and romantic obsession. Its lyrics use the image of a vampire avoiding daylight as a metaphor for wanting to stay frozen in a perfect moment with someone. In the remix, the 30-year-old K-pop star is directly written into the story. The second verse now includes the line, “My friends are saying, ‘Shut up, Jennie, just get in the car.’
The release comes during a strong solo run for Jennie. Since founding Odd Atelier in 2023, she has expanded her career beyond group activities. In March last year, she released her debut solo album, Ruby, containing 15 tracks. The album featured collaborations with Dominic Fike, Doechii, Dua Lipa, and Childish Gambino.
At the same time, Jennie is intensely active with BLACKPINK. The group completed their world tour last month and will now drop their third mini-album, DEADLINE, on February 27. During her recent appearance on the Golden Disc Awards, she confirmed that more solo music is on the way.
Simultaneously, she is preparing for a landmark year as a solo performer. Jennie is announced as a headliner for major 2026 festivals, including ComplexCon Hong Kong, The Governors Ball in New York, and Mad Cool Festival in Spain.
