KBS (Korean Broadcasting System) has deemed all songs on KARD BM’s highly anticipated solo debut album, Elements, unsuitable for broadcast.
As a member of the popular K-pop representative mixed group KARD, BM’s solo mini-album was eagerly awaited.
However, KBS’s blanket ban on the entire album has raised questions about the broadcasting giant’s strict guidelines and censorship policies.
As per the KBS’s music review results released on May 1, 5 tracks from BM’s first album Element, including the lead single Nectar, were deemed unsuitable for airing.
BM’s debut EP has 5 songs including Nectar ft. Jay Park (title track), Embers, Loyalty, Motion, Badgirl Badboy (ft. Somin of KARD).
KBS found Nectar unsuitable for broadcast due to its overly sensational lyrics. Loyalty mentioned a specific brand, violating broadcasting regulations on advertising effects. The other three songs had lyrics with profanity, slang, vulgar expressions, and sensational descriptions, which has led to the ban.
According to KBS’s music review guidelines, songs deemed unsuitable for broadcast can be revised and resubmitted for reconsideration. In light of this, DSP Media, BM’s agency, has announced plans to request a reevaluation only for the title track Nectar.
Lastly, KARD BM’s Element is set to release on May 7.
