South Korea is in a state of mourning from December 29 to January 4, 2025, following the tragic Jeju Air plane crash that claimed many lives.
The South Korean Entertainment industry has come to a halt in light of recent tragedy. Broadcasts and year-end festivities are being called off to allow for special news coverage of the unfortunate event.
Likewise, LE SSERAFIM’s Huh Yunjin is also pushing back the release of her new single, just like other groups such as IVE, Stray Kids, and SEVENTEEN’s BSS.
On December 30, LE SSERAFIM’s agency SOURCE MUSIC stated, “The music release for Huh Yunjin’s self-composed song ‘Jellyfish’, which was scheduled for release at 6 PM today, has been postponed due to the unfortunate accident that occurred yesterday.”
The label added, “We offer our condolences to the victims of the plane crash and their families, who are experiencing great pain and sorrow.”
The exact date of Yunjin’s upcoming solo single will be announced at a later time, most probably, after the mourning period ends.
K-pop groups IVE and BSS, who are gearing up for releases in January, also put comeback promotions on hold due to the recent tragedy. MBC’s Gayo Daejejeon, which is held on December 31 every year, is also postponed. Moreover, year-end award shows by KBS, SBS, and MBC have also been delayed.
Jeju Air Flight 7C2216 crashed at Muan International Airport on December 29. A total of 179 passengers unfortunately lost their lives and 2 crew members sustained injuries. The government has since declared a national mourning period, which will run until January 4, 2025.
