Park Sung Hoon is making waves for his portrayal of a transgender woman in “Squid Game” season 2.
Premiered on December 26, the second installment of the Netflix original series has shattered streaming records, similar to the first season. The show has hit #1 on Netflix in 93 countries, where the streaming service is available.
Park Sung Hoon is in hot water after sharing a racy ‘Squid Game’-themed post on his social media account. The post showing a woman’s body caused a lot of controversy, especially since Korea is currently in a mourning period following the tragic plane crash.
A representative from BH Entertainment stated on December 30 to Newsen, “Park Sung Hoon’s social media was flooded with direct messages (DMs), and while checking them, he accidentally uploaded the post.”
The official added, “Park Sung Hoon himself was also surprised and feels very sorry for making such a mistake during this time. We will be more cautious to prevent this from happening again.”
A screenshot of his social media post circulated online, showing that he had shared an “AV cover” inspired by “Squid Game”. The post was quickly removed, but the screenshot revealed the image had featured multiple women.
The post received criticism from fans and netizens, however, his agency quickly explained that it was a mistake he made while checking his messages.
On another note, “The Glory” actor played the role of a former special forces soldier who joined the game to collect enough money for gender-affirming surgery. Additionally, he is in talks to appear alongside Girls’ Generation’s YoonA in the time-travel drama “The Tyrant’s Chef.”
