SEVENTEEN member Hoshi begins his military service today, September 16, marking an important chapter for both the artist and his fans.
The 29-year-old idol reported to boot camp in the morning, where he will undergo seven weeks of basic training—extended due to the Chuseok holiday—before receiving his unit assignment. His discharge date is currently set for March 15, 2027.
On Weverse Live the night before, Hoshi shared heartfelt words with CARATs worldwide.
“As you all know, I’m enlisting tomorrow. I’ll do well, and Jihoonie [Woozi] who went in today will also do well. Don’t worry too much,” he said, showing his shaved head. “It feels real now, but I’ve accepted it, I will come back strong.”
He also comforted fans, noting, “There’s a lot of content coming out while I’m gone, so you won’t be bored. I filmed like crazy.”
To mark this moment, Hoshi prepared a special gift for fans—his solo song “Take a Shot”, dropping today at 6 PM KST.
Written by the K-pop star himself, the track is described as a hip-hop song full of energy and grit, perfect for workouts or moments that need a burst of strength. Describing the song, the SEVENTEEN performance leader shared, “It’s very fighting or more like GRR, something you can listen to while working out.”
Although the music video is still being finalized, the soundtrack will be released as scheduled, with visuals arriving later.
Hoshi becomes the fourth SEVENTEEN member to enlist. Jeonghan began alternative service in September 2024, Wonwoo enlisted in April, and Woozi entered training just yesterday.
Meanwhile, the group recently launched their “NEW_” world tour, holding two shows at the Incheon Asiad Main Stadium before heading to Hong Kong, North America, and Japan.
