Bae Suzy, one of Korea’s most beloved actresses and singers, has once again found herself at the center of unfounded speculation. On August 28, a post in an online community claimed she was preparing to marry a wealthy man and that “official news would be out soon.” The gossip quickly gained traction on social media, prompting Management SOOP to publicly refute it.
The initial rumor post contained no evidence but still stirred curiosity among netizens. Given Suzy’s high profile as an actress and former Miss A member, such claims instantly gained traction online. However, this was quickly met with an unusually direct response from her agency’s CEO.
Kim Jang Kyun, the head of Management SOOP, personally addressed the matter through his Instagram account. In a short but sharp warning, he wrote:
If you’re caught spreading rumors… you’ll be in trouble.
Kim Jang Kyun has previously intervened in similar situations and actively defended his artists against false claims. In 2018, he addressed circulating marriage rumors involving other actors from the agency. Gong Yoo and Jung Yu Mi.
At that time, he also personally addressed the matter and even suggested the possibility of legal measures against rumor spreaders.
On August 29, Management SOOP released an official statement through its official channels to further address the situation. The agency wrote:
We keep monitoring malicious posts and comments, including the spread of malicious slander and false information about our performers, and are continuously collecting the data via reports.
The agency encouraged fans and netizens to report people spreading misinformation and lies to [email protected].
On the work front, Suzy will star in two exciting new dramas, Delusion and Men of Haram, as well as a film titled 7 a.m. Breakfast Meeting for the Heartbroken.
