South Korean singer and actress Jiyeon, a member of the popular K-pop group T-ara, and her husband Hwang Jae Gyun, a professional baseball player, have reportedly filed for divorce.
On October 5, sources from the legal community revealed that the couple filed a divorce mediation application at the Seoul Family Court last month and are currently undergoing divorce proceedings.
Later, Jiyeon confirmed the news of the divorce through her legal representative. Her lawyer revealed ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason behind their divorce.
Hwang Jae Gyun and Jiyeon tied the knot on December 10, 2022, in an intimate ceremony attended by close friends and family members. Two years later, they are parting ways after getting embroiled in multiple divorce rumors.
Their divorce rumors first circulated after a KNN Radio commentator publicly mentioned Hwang’s alleged divorce during a baseball game broadcast. Further fueling speculation, a social media video showed Hwang socializing at a Seoul bar late at night last month.
Although the couple initially denied the rumors as ‘groundless,’ it has now been confirmed that they were indeed in divorce proceedings.
