Lee Jong Suk and Kim Ji Won’s highly-anticipated drama ‘See You Again’ was abruptly canceled before its release. Fans were left wondering what happened as they were vying to see their favorite stars together.
On August 7, a post by a staff member highlighting Lee Jong Suk’s alleged poor work ethic resurfaced. Lately, there have been a lot of talks about the Big Mouth actor not getting OTT Original releases.
Back in 2018, he was set to star opposite Kim Ji Won in Netflix See You Again, however, the drama got axed before filming.
At the time, reports were circulating that he was rumored to have skipped a script reading, but his team said he never officially agreed to be part of the project.
Netflix ultimately decided to cancel the show, saying things didn’t fall into place. This might be the reason why Lee Jong Suk might face challenges working with Netflix in the future.
6 years later, a post by an ex-staff member of See You Again has resurfaced, claiming that Lee Jong Suk dropped out a day before the script reading.
In the post, the staff member who worked on the Netflix drama See You Again shared their frustration after the project was suddenly canceled. The script reading was scheduled for Saturday but was called off at the last minute due to his withdrawal.
The staff member expressed disappointment and disillusionment, feeling that Lee Jong Suk’s actions showed a lack of regard for others involved in the project.
They noted that the cancellation led to many staff members losing jobs, saying, “Lee Jong Suk’s last-minute change affected everyone, causing a lot of people who were ready and prepared to lose their jobs. It is disheartening to think that a single person’s word can undo months of work and dreams for those who are just trying to make a living. We, the staff who barely make a living, are seen as insignificant compared to top actors who get millions for their roles.”
His past withdrawal from a Netflix drama has become a hot topic again, as Netflix continues to expand its K-Drama offerings without featuring Lee Jong Suk in any of its original series.
