On March 1, Ni-Ki apologized for his careless remarks saying, “I apologize for carelessly expressing my views about March 1st Independence Movement Day. I realized my mistake and immediately deleted the post.” Further, he promised to be more careful in the future.

Late at night on February 29, Ni-Ki started chatting with fans on Weverse. He mentioned, “If I can make it through tomorrow, it’s finally the weekend. Fighting ENGENE (fandom name)!” and shared a picture of the night sky.

One fan commented, “Korea is closed tomorrow.” Ni-Ki asked, “Is tomorrow a public holiday?” and a fan replied, “I have the day off because it’s March 1st.” Ni-Ki responded, “I’m jealous,” and added, “We don’t have public holidays or weekends.”

Ni-Ki faced significant criticism from netizens. As a Japanese member, his lack of awareness about the historical significance of March 1st, which commemorates the Korean independence movement against Japanese colonial rule in 1919, drew a strong backlash. Many criticized him for his ignorance of this important chapter in history.
