Former idol KG is set to face off against JYP Entertainment in a court hearing on March 6. The case, which will be open to the public, centers on a dispute between the ex-VCHA member and the entertainment agency.
On February 28, KG took to Instagram to share an update on her ongoing dispute with the agency, sharing, “On the morning of March 6, I will attend my first court hearing. This court hearing will be open to the public and is crucial as it’ll determine whether the case proceeds to arbitration or through the court of law.”
The 17-year-old K-pop star added, “JYP Entertainment is advocating for arbitration, which’d mean all proceedings are handled privately, behind closed doors, shielding the truth and outcome from the public.” She expressed, “I am fighting for this case to be heard in a court of law in front of a judge where all my documentation and evidence are made public.”
KG further shared, “A court of law provides me the protection for my legal rights and prevents me from being bullied into silence. I will keep you updated on this matter and the outcome of this case.”
In December 2024, KG filed a lawsuit against JYP Entertainment to terminate her contract. She cited experiences of abuse, mistreatment, and neglect by staff members.
In a statement, the K-pop star revealed that a toxic environment led to a group member’s suicide attempt and encouraged eating disorders and self-harm.
She also opened up about the financial struggles she faced as a member of VCHA. Despite working long hours, she was only paid $500 a week and accumulated significant debt.
At the time, she expressed gratitude for the training and performance opportunities she got through JYP Entertainment, but felt the company prioritized profits over its artists’ well-being. Now, KG is fighting for her freedom and the chance to pursue her passions for songwriting and production.
