K-pop fans have a lot to look forward to in January 2025, with several big-name groups returning to the music scene. The lineup includes GOT7, GFriend, BSS, BOYNEXTDOOR, and Onew among others.
Let’s delve deep and see which K-pop group is making a comeback
Onew from SHINee
After ending his hiatus in early 2024, Onew has been consistently releasing new music and engaging in various activities. He released an EP “Flow” in September 2024 and is now gearing up for another release.
The SHINee leader will make a comeback after 4 months with 4th mini-album “CONNECTION”, releasing on January 6 at 6 PM. In addition, he is set to embark on a solo concert tour, “ONEW THE LIVE : CONNECTION”, hitting four major Asian cities:
- Yokohama: Feb 15-16
- Seoul: Feb 21-23
- Taipei: April 5
- Macau: April 20
BOYNEXTDOOR
BOYNEXTDOOR is also gearing up for a comeback on January 6 with their first-ever digital single “IF I SAY, I LOVE YOU.” KOZ Entertainment announced their upcoming release on December 16 and has released various promotional content since.
BOYNEXTDOOR’s new single “IF I SAY, I LOVE YOU” is a refreshing dance track that candidly captures the relatable post-breakup blues.
This upbeat dance track combines honest lyrics about post-breakup struggles with the group’s signature sound.
KickFlip
Besides Onew and BOYNEXTDOOR, a new K-pop group KickFlip will make their debut on January 6. They were originally scheduled to debut on January 1. However, their debut date was pushed to January 6 due to the tragic Jeju Air plane crash.
KickFlip will enter the K-pop scene with the title track “Mama Said” of their debut mini-album. The group was formed through an audition program, LOUD, 8 members were selected to be part of the new group, however, Yoon Min departed in April 2023 before the group’s debut.
Kwon Eunbi
Kwon Eunbi, a former member of Ye-A and IZ*ONE, is also gearing up to release the digital single “It’s Snowing” on January 7 at 6 PM KST. A surprise feature from rapper Coogie has heightened expectations for the upcoming release.
Kwon is known for her typical summer-themed hits such as “Summer Queen” and “Waterbomb Goddess.” Fans are curious about her new winter-inspired sound.
SEVENTEEN’s BSS
SEVENTEEN’s subunit BSS (Seungkwan, Dokyeom, and Hoshi), is set to make a vibrant start to the new year with their second single. The trio dropped the trailer for “TELEPARTY“, titled “How is your youth?” in December 2024.
The single “TELEPARTY” combines “telepathy” and “party,”. This release comes nearly two years after BooSeokSoon’s debut single “SECOND WIND” in February 2023. The “TELEPARTY” album and music video are set to drop on January 8 at 6 PM.
GFriend
GFriend’s comeback after disbandment is attracting a lot of attention. The group approaches their 10th debut anniversary with a long-awaited comeback. They have been dropping teasers about their new album, “Season of Memories“, set to release on January 13.
Through Source Music’s and HYBE Labels’ YouTube channel, GFriend shared teaser content and concept photos to give a preview.
To celebrate their milestone 10th anniversary, they will host a two-day solo concert, “GFRIEND 10th Anniversary ‘Season of Memories’“, at Seoul’s Olympic Hall on January 18-19.
Initially, only two shows were planned, but they sold out in a flash when tickets went on sale. To meet the overwhelming demand, a third show was added, which also sold out quickly.
Before taking the stage, GFriend will treat fans with a pre-release single on January 6, followed by their special album “Season of Memories” on January 13 at 6 PM.
GOT7
GOT7 is gearing up for a comeback as a full group, just in time for their 11th debut anniversary. On December 20, 2024, Kakao Entertainment revealed that GOT7 will drop a brand-new mini-album titled “WINTER HEPTAGON” on January 20, their first full-group release in nearly three years.
After Jay B and Jinyoung were discharged from the military, all seven members reunited to prepare for a comeback that fans had been waiting for a long time.
After parting ways with JYP Entertainment, the group has partnered with Kakao Entertainment for their upcoming comeback. As per reports, they will treat fans to a comeback concert in February.
