2024 MBC’s Gayo Daejejeon’s scheduled broadcast on December 31 was canceled due to the tragic Jeju Air plane crash.
While the ceremony was held as scheduled, the live broadcast was pushed to a later date to respect the national mourning period (December 29, 2024, to January 4).
MBC’s Gayo Daejejeon Wannabe is scheduled to air during the Lunar New Year holiday, with a two-day broadcast on January 29 and 30. The broadcast will span two days with a total airtime of over 4 hours.
The first part will air on January 29 (Lunar New Year’s Day) at 5:30 PM KST, and the second part is scheduled for January 30 at 5:30 PM KST.
It had initially been slated for a live broadcast on December 31st, with some stages even pre-recorded in advance. However, tragedy struck when the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster occurred just two days prior to the scheduled broadcast, claiming 179 lives.
As a result, the event was recorded as planned, but its airing was postponed to a later date, now set for January 29 and 30.
