Hyeri has announced a strong legal response against malicious online comments directed at her.
On February 5, Sublime, Hyeri’s agency, released an official statement confirming that it is taking legal action against illegal acts.
They will file lawsuits against online defamation, insults, sexual harassment, and the spread of false information. The agency said it has already filed criminal complaints twice between 2024 and 2025.
According to Sublime, the identities of several malicious commenters have now been confirmed, and the cases have been transferred to the relevant police stations. Some suspects have already been sent to the prosecution on charges including insult and related offenses.
The agency made it clear that these cases are ongoing. Sublime also stated, “Through ongoing monitoring and the collection of evidence, we will respond immediately to any additional illegal activities. There will be no leniency or settlements under any circumstances. We will take firm action to the very end to eradicate criminal acts directed at our artists.”
Korean artist agencies are increasingly taking firm legal steps instead of tolerating malicious comments as part of public life. In recent years, several major companies have taken similar action. This includes lawsuits against defamatory YouTube channels such as Sojang and identifying anonymous social media accounts.
Some labels went as far as tracking overseas users to pursue international legal measures. Industry experts say these actions help deter repeat offenders and send a clear message that online abuse will not be ignored.
On the work front, Hyeri will appear in Netflix’s variety show Agents of Mystery Season 2, which is set to be released on February 27. The show follows a cast investigating mysterious and supernatural cases, and Hyeri is returning as a key member.
She is also preparing for the ENA drama Dream to You, scheduled for release in 2026. In the series, Hyeri plays Joo Yi Jae, a passionate reporter who has lost sight of her dreams. The romantic comedy follows her character as she reconnects with someone from her past while revisiting an unfinished film project.
