On March 26, a representative from the production team of Queen of Tears responded to the rumors, saying, “Kim Soo Hyun’s appearance fee of 800 million won per episode is not true.”

Today, a news source claimed that the 36-year-old actor has been paid 800 million won per episode for his role in Queen of Tears.

If Kim Soo Hyun indeed received 800 million won per episode for Queen of Tears, the total fee for 16 episodes would amount to 12.8 billion won, making it the highest among domestic productions excluding Netflix originals. This sum reportedly equals around one-third of the drama’s production cost of approximately 40 billion won.

As of now, the top-paid actor is Lee Jung Jae, starring in the Netflix original Squid Game, with a per-episode fee surpassing 1 billion won.
