Kim Soo Hyun’s current scandal with Kim Sae Ron has opened a Pandora’s box as long-buried allegations from his past are beginning to resurface.
Seo Ye Ji and Kim Soo Hyun, both under Gold Medalist, starred in the 2020 hit drama “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay”. The following year, Seo Ye Ji was embroiled in a major bullying scandal, leading to a public backlash that forced her to take a break from acting.
At the time, the Dispatch report also supported the bullying claims made against the 34-year-old actress. She eventually parted ways with Gold Medalist in November 2023 after being accused of manipulation, abuse of power, and school/staff bullying.
Now, Kim Soo Hyun is swept up in a controversy over his alleged 6-year relationship with the late Kim Sae Ron, who was only 15 when they began dating. On March 12, a former Gold Medalist employee made shocking allegations which heated the controversy even more.
Seo Ye Ji Was Used as a “Shield”
As per the former employee, Seo Ye Ji was used as a scapegoat to cover up more serious scandals involving Kim Soo Hyun and his cousin Lee Sa Rang. Gold Medalist allegedly diverted the attention by putting the negative spotlight on the Kdrama actress.
The employee shared that they would like to remain anonymous, expressing,
“Four years ago, I worked at Gold Medalist, but I was fired after leaking important information about actress Seo Ye Ji to reporters from Dispatch and OSEN. However, those reporters did not use the information because Lee Sa Rang instructed them not to use it, saying that it would ruin the company’s reputation. What I want to say is that while Kim Soo Hyun and his cousin Lee Sa Rang have many problems, Seo Ye Ji was used as a shield. Some of the negative claims about her actually came from within the agency. Gold Medalist intentionally fed Dispatch false information about Seo Ye Ji to cover up their own problems. They even paid people to lie about her. For example, the claim that Seo Ye Ji was rude to the staff was fabricated. Gold Medalist actually paid people to spread such false claims. Also, one of the employees of the company made up a false story that Seo Ye Ji committed school violence during her school days, and Lee Sa Rang instructed the reporters to lie about it. Actress Seo Ye Ji re-signed with Gold Medalist because she thought she could trust Kim Soo Hyun. However, she was eventually used, and the company made a huge profit through her. Actor Kim Jung Hyun has said in the past that his agency will sue him for spreading false information about Seo Ye Ji, but the company did not disclose this. Even when her second drama “Eve” was aired, the company did not promote it. There is more to this story. Actress Kim Sae Ron knows the important truth. So I want to convey this message to Kim Sae Ron’s parents. If you look at her diary with a pink cover, you’ll find out more about what happened between Kim Sae Ron and Kim Soo Hyun. Kim Soo Hyun is already receiving hate for his possible connection with the “Bloodhounds” actress. He is now facing backlash from Seo Ye Ji fans as well. They are accusing him of using Seo and ruining precious years of her flourishing acting career.
Seo Ye Ji’s Response to Recent Controversy
Seo Ye Ji does not want anything to do with Kim Soo Hyun and his cousin. She made it very clear in a post shared on her fan cafe, addressed to fans.
“I’m also human… really feel overwhelmed, pressured, tired… Sad….
I… have absolutely nothing to do with him and his cousin…(??)
I also don’t understand why I have to explain this.”

Meanwhile, Seo Ye Ji joined Sublime Artist Agency as a signed artist in June 2024. She is currently preparing to make an acting comeback, her appearance was in the 2022 drama “Eve”.
