He is the second SEVENTEEN member to begin mandatory military service after Jeonghan.

On March 5, PLEDIS Entertainment announced Wonwoo military enlistment date on the fan platform Weverse.

The statement reads,

“We would like to share the news that WONWOO of SEVENTEEN will be starting his mandatory military service from April 3 this year. As such, he will not be able to attend any of SEVENTEEN’s engagements after his enlistment, including the upcoming Tecate Pa’l Norte 2025 festival and Japan fanmeeting in April. As announced before, WONWOO will be participating in the “SEVENTEEN in CARAT LAND” concert as scheduled from March 20 to 21 and will be appearing in various pre-recorded content.”

PLEDIS Entertainment, March 5, 2025

The agency announced that there would be no official event on the day of Wonwoo’s enlistment in the training center. They kindly requested that fans refrain from visiting his alternative service location.

Wonwoo, like Jeonghan, will begin his mandatory military service as a public service worker. This means that he will not be serving as an active-duty soldier. Instead, he will fulfill his service obligations in a different capacity. As a result, fans can expect a longer wait for his discharge. Active-duty service typically lasts 18 months, but alternative service lasts 21 months.

Wonwoo is expected to complete his military service and return to civilian life on January 2, 2027.

Hoshi and Woozi, born in 1996, are also scheduled to enlist in the military. They have planned a unit release with a single “BEAM”, out this month.

Prior to Wonwoo, Jeonghan became the first member of SEVENTEEN to enlist in the military in September of last year. He is currently serving as a social service worker due to an ankle injury.

In other news, SEVENTEEN is set to host their 9th fan meeting, “SEVENTEEN in CARAT LAND,” on March 20th and 21st at the Incheon Munhak Stadium Main Stadium.
